Missourian Blog Post #2

It’s been an interesting week.

I started off this week somewhat anxiously anticipating my first General Assignment shift at the Missourian on Wednesday. Tuesday afternoon, however, my beat editor calls and asks me to come in. Before I know it, I am knee-deep in school board election profiles. Needless to say, I was thrown head-first into reporting.

And honestly? It wasn’t as hard as I thought. Sure, I did a short profile here, a brief there…but I really can’t remember what I was so afraid of. There’s some pressure and some stress involved, but a newsroom is a newsroom. No matter which one I am in, I feel like I am doing something important, and all the while, I am having fun.

Three days in and I already have three stories published. If this is week one, I can only imagine what the rest of the semester will be like.
